Industrial Post Doc. for hybrid breeding

We are looking to hire a quantitative geneticist as soon as possible. Key activities and responsibilities will consist of:
  • Development of genomic selection models for hybrid crop performance, i.e., GCA and SCA in collaboration with university partners.
  • Active participation in field trials and evaluation of hybrids and hybrid components.
  • Organizing big data set originating from genotyping and phenotyping observations.
  • Conducting genomic selection for single traits as well for multi-trait for crops bred at Nordic Seed.
  • Identifying markers for marker assisted selection and marker assisted backcrossing.
  • Providing statistical support to breeders in crop breeding at Nordic Seed.
  • Active participation of project related activities as well as breeding related activities.
  • Ensuring reporting of results from Nordic Seed to funding agencies as well as in scientific literature.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in plant breeding, animal breeding, genetics or related fields. The PhD must have been obtained within the last five years, so that the candidate can apply for an industrial Post Doc. at Nordic Seed. Knowledge of organizing large data sets originating from genotyping and phenotyping is also necessary. Solid experience in quantitative genetics and genomic selection is required. In addition, the candidate should have a good written and spoken knowledge of English and Danish. Alternatively, the candidate shall follow an intensive Danish course upon appointment. Furthermore, it is necessary to have a driving license. 
The position is limited to three years with the possibility of it becoming permanent after the Post Doc. is completed.  
The breeding experiments are conducted in Dyngby near Odder (East jutland),  Holeby (Lolland), Skive (West Jutland) and Nienstädt near Hannover in Germany. We offer a dynamic team working with all aspects of plant breeding. We have an excellent laboratory, field and green house facilities to conduct successful molecular or physiology oriented breeding activities.
